Can you Die Several Deaths?
Here’s a stunning interview with a Navy Seal who got caught in a Taliban shootout in Afganistan where the rest of his task force died. He tells his interviewer that he died up on that mountain, too. It’s a moving story that makes you wonder how many times you can die in your life.
Sometimes it takes a little death to bring about a little growth. You can’t let go of yourself either until you accept the final death. But it must be hard. Then there’s George Foreman talking about how he died in the lockeroom after a defeat in 1977 then found Jesus. “I hated everybody, as a matter of fact, I didn’t even like myself,” Foreman says. His dying gave him a second chance to make peace with everyone he ever fought. “You have to make that journey,” he says.
