Blake knows best
. . . As in Lisa Blake, not to be confused with the enlightenment mystic, William. Lisa, in her own words, un-edited:This is a photo I shot in July 2009 at the 14th century Klu-kkhyil Gompa (monastery) in Ladakh, India. Most unusual for Ladakhi gompas is that the statue of Maitreya, the Buddha of the future, is 25 meters high and is located outside. This monastery is the first in the region to have been built by Tibetan monks.Being present at the monastery was extraordinary, meeting the monks who live there and "friending" them on Facebook — and this photograph, in particular — inspires me to remember the promise of striving to bring out my best, shine like a Buddha, and strive for enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Maitreya is a reminder of what the future can hold for my own becoming.
