It’s not quite Milan, but you can get a taste of Florence in San Francisco. You can see a copy of Ghiberti’s bronze doors that adorn Florence’s Baptistery on SF’s Grace Cathedral. Michaelangelo once called them worthy of being the “Gates of Paradise” and the name stuck. Truly worth the hike up Nob Hill.
