The Ten Best Spiritual Resorts in the West
Wickaninnish Inn, Vancouver Island
No. 3
Wickaninnish Inn, Tofino, BC: It’s not an official spiritual retreat center — it’s a commercial eco-resort. But this is that rare for-profit venue where heaven truly does meet earth, and earth meets heaven. Where old-growth rain-forest meets whale-watching. This dreamy outpost on the far side of Vancouver Island feels like its on the edge of the Earth.Cost: Rooms start at $460 (Canadian) in the summer, and about half that during off-season.
Fine print: The resort’s panoramic, A++ Pointe Restaurant is kind of like the French Laundry of the northwest.
This destination was once a steal but the stunning rise in the Canadian dollar during the second half of 2007 puts it in the same cost category as Big Sur resorts like Ventana Inn.

Thank you very much for choosing Harbin Hot Springs
in your Top Ten!
We have many more rooms than the domes, which are just recently opened to the public. We also offer camping accommodation, and day visits.
I wonder whether it should be mentioned that Harbin's pool and sun-deck area is clothing optional?
Thank you for your good work - you founded a great web site !
Harbin is great! It does have computers in the Cafe... they are not verboten, but everything else you mention is. Harbin is a great place to camp in the warmer summer months, and is very affordable this way. They also have fabulous food in their restaurant, or you can cook your own meals in the communal Fern kitchen (and buy groceries at their wonderful health food store)
And yes, it is a clothing-optional resort.
